Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980166218

A rule can be devised which will protect all legitimate interests in and alternatives to H.R. 1510 when it reaches the floor. But. Mr. Speaker. we must go forward with immigration reform without delay. Mr. Speaker. I would like to insert in the RECORD editorials from my hometown papers. the Louisville CourierJournal and the Louisville Times highlighting the urgent need for Congress to act on immigration reform. The fact that newspapers. not serving areas severely affected by immigration problems. editorialize on H.R. 1510 demonstrates that there is a strong sentiment in our Nation to do something to reform our immigration laws and to do it now. [From the Louisville (Ky.) CourierJournal. Feb. 18. 1984]
