Soviet Jews with the courage to speak out on behalf of their people are silenced. Recently. the Soviet Government has become more overtly antagonistic. supporting the creation of the AntiZionist Committee. a group whose virulent antiSemitic activities included condoning publication of "The Class Essence of Zionism." a book suggestingamong other thingsthat Jews helped the Nazis in the Holocaust. The committee also alleged that the reason Jewish emigration had dropped so dramatically was that all those wishing to leave have left. We must protect the treatment and censure of Jews in the Soviet Union. With the new leadership in the Soviet Union. we have a chance again to bring this issue to the forefront of all our dealings with the Soviets.
