Speech #980140223

Mr. Speaker. in 1949 the chief of the Sioux Indians came to Washington. D.C.. to talk to the then Vice President. Alben Barkley. about the plight of Indians in America. As he was leaving the meeting. he gave some unsolicited advice to the Vice President by saying. Mr. Vice President. let me give you some advice. Be careful of your immigration laws. We have been careless with ours. Mr. Speaker. I think it is important that we in the United States remember the words of the chief of the Sioux Indians in 1949. We have to gain control of our borders.
