Mr. Speaker. I rise today in order to pay tribute to the county of New York on its 300th anniversary. I share the honor of representing the county. better known as Manhattan. with my colleagues. Representatives RANGEL and GREEN. Manhattan has played an important role in the history of this Nation. For the past 300 years. it has served as the gateway to America for millions of immigrants. From around the world. these people brought their unique pasts and shared aspirations for a better future. Together. they enriched our culture and molded our history. Manhattan has nurtured the many influences that have shaped our national heritage.
