Terence Cardinal Cooke was indeed a great man. The Cardinals death on October 6 ended the brilliant career of an eloquent spokesman of virtue. and a dedicated humanitarian. His unwavering love of life. even through the suffering of the illness which was to finally overtake him. was an inspiration to all throughout the world. Cardinal Cooke was born in New York City in 1921. the child of Michael and Margaret Cooke. both of whom were immigrants from Ireland. He was educated in Catholic elementary schools in the Bronx and West Nanuet. and after attending St. Josephs Seminary. he was ordained in Soon thereafter.
