Mr. Speaker. this weekend my hometown of New Britain. Conn.. will be the site of one of the States major tributes to the 300th anniversary of German immigration to America. In a gesture that reflects the unique sense of community and the appreciation for diversity that characterizes Connecticut. this years annual Columbus Day Parade. sponsored by the Columbian Federation of New Britain. will salute the achievements of Connecticuts German Americans. A number of visiting German dignitaries will serve as honorary parade marshals during the Sunday event. and take part in the Central Connecticut State University symposium "CCSU Salutes the GermanAmerican Tricentennial." which will be held on the following day.
