Session #98 · 1983–85

Speech #980094013

Let us not forget Anatoly Shcharansky. Alexander Paritsky. Ida Nudel. Josef Begun. and Chicagoborn U.S. citizen Abe Stolar. These are just a few of the many Soviet Jews who seek only to exercise their basic human right to emigrate from the Soviet Union. In this week. which is the holiest of the Jewish year. let us remember these courageous individuals and rededicate ourselves to the continuing effort to help them. In April 1966. I first met with Soviet officials in Moscow to express my concern about that governments discrimination against Soviet Jews and the people of the Baltic States and Ukraine.
