Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970226782

I believe it to be a tribute to Senators SIMPSON and KENNEDY that the debate in the Senate has been reasoned and thoughtful over the last few days. As the distinguished chairman of the subcommittee knows. I differed with him on some of the amendments which were proposed. I remain concerned about some of those features of the bill that particularly concern the question of family reunification. I am hopeful that in the end these will be worked out in a way that will be responsive to some of the concerns expressed by me and others in the course of the debate on those amendments. Again.
