I intend to vote against S. 2222. Second. I am not confident enough that this bill will do what its proponents claim it willto control and reform immigration. I have heard the arguments in support of legalizing the status of the estimated 4 to 6 million illegal aliens already in the United States. But I am concerned that legalization will encourage others to attempt to enter the United States illegally with the hope that someday. perhaps 5 or 10 years down the road. the U.S. Government will once again grant amnesty for Illegal aliens. There is no persuasive argument that legislation will not act as an incentive for people to come to the United States either. For these reasons. I must vote against S. 2222. While I appreciate and share the need to get U.S. immigration under control. I cannot support this legislation.
