Mr. Speaker. today I wanted especially to pay tribute to Lev Blitshtein. His is a name that most Americans do not recognize. but he is one of the thousands of Soviet refuseniks who have lived over the years in the constant fight to emigrate. Lev Blitshtein was employed in the Soviet Governments Ministry of Meat and Dairy until he and his family applied to emigrate and in 1975 the request was denied. Lev Blitshtein loved his family so dearly that he divorced his wife to increase his familys chances of obtaining permission from the Soviet authoritiestoday. his wife. Blumah. his daughter Galina and her daughter. and his son Boris are all living in the United States. Lev Blitshtein remains in the Soviet Union. He is unemployed. and collects and sells bottles to support himself. He fears harassment by Soviet authorities. but he is still trying to emigrate. When he was refused permission to leave the Soviet Union. Mr.
