Mr. Speaker. communitybased health clinics are under attack throughout the Nation and the future of the Mission Neighborhood Health Center in my district is in jeopardy. The Mission Neighborhood Health Center was designed as a comprehensive health care center. It provides familyoriented medical services for more than 40.000 people. Many of these people do not speak any English. including recent immigrants to this country. As a direct result of Federal budget reductions. the centers services have been seriously reduced. They have been forced to see fewer patients and to increase waiting time for appointments. Under these circumstances. it is difficult for the center to meet the minimum health care needs of the community.
