Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970157326

Mr. Speaker. I Join with my colleagues on this serious occasion to express my deep concern and this Nations deep concern about the deteriorating situation on the island nation of Cyrus. As we meet today. 27.000 Turkish troops of occupation are on Cypriot soil and none of the 200.000 Greek refugees displaced by the Turkish invasion in 1974 has been returned to their homes. Teh struggle between Greece and Turkey over Cyprus is a great threat to the Atlantic alliance. It is not a matter of choosing sides in the conroversy. it is a simple matter of Justice. Greek Cypriots have suffered and continue to suffer tremendous losses at the hands of Turkish occupants.
