Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970131893

Mr. Speaker. reserving the right to object. I take this time under my reservation only to make this inquiry of the committee chairman: When the legislation was on the floor. I had offered an amendment regarding the sense of Congress that recommendations be made by the Secretary of State to grant extended voluntary departure status to Salvadorean refugees residing in the United States. That amendment was accepted by the gentleman as well as the ranking minority member and adopted unanimously. I ask the gentleman. what happened to that amendment in the conference? Would the chairman of the committee apprise me of that?
