Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970129772

We have recently followed with a great deal of concern the events happening with regard to the Libyan Government and some of its threats that it has made. and perhaps they are even trying to carry out those threats against the lives of some of the top executive leaders in this country. In doing so. we have thought and we have debated and we have concerned ourselves as to whether these hit men have entered our country or not. Sad as it may seem. they would certainly enter almost without challenge if they came in with a boatload of marihuana or if they came across some of our borders with some of the illegal aliens who are coming into this country at this time. Our borders are virtually unprotected. I think that this cut is a movement in the wrong direction. and it is one that we should not support.
