This anniversary marked the observance of a great milestone in the history and life of this great Birmingham church. It was a beautiful and touching occasion. not only for the parish. but also for the Birmingham community and Jefferson County. to which the parish belongs. In the early years. the majority of members immigrated from Greece in order to build a better life for themselves and their families. They were then. and are now. patriotic Americans who love and are dedicated to their country and to their church. These early immigrants wanted very much to belong and become actively involved in their new community. This involvement started with the creation of a place of worship where they could give thanks to God for enabling them to come to this great country of ours. Today. the congregation of the Holy TrinityHoly Cross Greek Orthodox Church is still very much involved in the activities of their church and community.
