Mr. Speaker. I wish to express my strong support for House Joint Resolution 220. which would grant honorary U.S. citizenship to Raoul Wallenberg. As many of us know. Raoul Wallenberg embarked on an effort to save the lives of Jews threatened by the Nazis in Hungary during the Second World War. He received support for his mission from President Roosevelt and the American War Refugee Board. and from his homeland of Sweden. He succeeded in helping 200.000 Jews escape the Nazi death camps. Mr. Wallenberg was taken into custody by the Soviets in 1945. and has not been heard from since.
