Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970080676

Mr. Speaker. I rise in support of the sense of Congress Concurrent Resolution 183. I think we need to remember that is just what it is. We in the Congress do not issue visas. nor can we reclaim them. We each cannot pretend to be the Secretary of State. But I think we do have an opportunity and perhaps an obligation to reflect the consensus of the people of this country. and I think this is what we are doing in approving this resolution. As has already been expressed. I think most of us would find the discriminatory. the racist policies which are an integral part of the Government of South Africa to be abhorrent.
