I would like to address myself to the gentleman who offered this amendment. I know he offers the amendment in good faith. I know the problem of socalled illegal aliens is one that we have considered for a period of time I would. however. like to point out to the gentleman that the amendment he offers would prohibit. in my judgment. any kind of assistance under the Legal Services Corporation to a person who is here not as a lawfully admitted permanent resident. Having said that. I would like the gentleman to know that his excludes a number of people or groups of people who are here. have residence here. and who are not in illegal status.
