Mr. Speaker. I think very few of us in this country question the need for significant immigration reform. It is well documented that the situation has reached a point where we face the choice of making significant reforms or subjecting our countrys resources. both economic and natural. to extremely destructive pressures. I am pleased to see that congressional committees are devoting attention to this issue and I hope that we will soon see substantive proposals being generated from them in both Houses. One of the forces behind the increased attention to this problem and the action which we are beginning to see is an organization known as FAIR. the Federation for American Immigration Reform. Dr. John Tanton. a constituent of mine is the founder of the organization from Petoskey.
