Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970037864

Because of what he had endured both in prison and in exile. his health is failing and several times in recent years he has almost died. In less than a year Semyon Gluzmans sentence will have expired. I fervently hope that he will be freed and allowed to emigrate to Israel. Certainly. this hope has been the focus of the efforts of groups around the world who have taken up his case. As in past years. I introduced in this Congress a resolution (H.J. Res. 230) calling for Dr. Gluzmans release and permission for him to emigrate to Israel. The number of cosponsors to the resolution has increased every yearto a total of 81 this yearand I am proud to be able to play this part in working toward Dr. Gluzmans freedom.
