H.R. 3462 authorizes $2.326.553.000 for the purpose of carrying out most activities of the Department of Justice for fiscal. year 1982. In addition to funding various divisions of the Justice Department. H.R. 3462 provides moneys for the Drug Enforcement Administration. the Immigration and Naturalization Service. the Federal prison system. and the FBI. I am particularly pleased with the Judiciary Committees decision to restore funds for DEA. Last Friday Congressmen RANGEL and SAw. cochairmen of the Task Force on Law Enforcement of the Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control. held hearings to examine the problems faced by State and local law enforcement agencies in combating the war on drugs.
