We all realize that we have to beef up our national defense. I was trying to indicate to the President. though. that we also need to be concerned about domestic defense and that part of our national security is not just national defense but also domestic defense. Domestic defense is fighting street crime. drugs. and organized crime. Certainly then. our armies in this effort are the DEA. the Coast Guard. Customs. the Internal Revenue Service. the FBI. and the Immigration and Naturalization Service. I told him that those are the items we should not be cutting. Those are the ones we ought to be beefing up.
