Session #97 · 1981–83

Speech #970031607

This past February. in response to efforts by Members of Congress to gain his early release. Mr. Mendelevich received his ticket to freedomto Israel. His dream finally became reality. He should be heralded as a man who had the strength to persevere in the face of unimaginable Soviet injustices. Mr. Mendelevich serves as an inspiration to all who remain in the Soviet labor camps as well as to those who are denied permission to emigrate solely on the basis of their religious beliefs. He is living proof that perseverance can be rewarded. Thus. it is incumbent upon us to continue in our efforts to seek freedom for those who are not yet free.$
