As many already know. Raoul Wallenberg was a diplomat of the Government of Sweden. assigned to the Swedish Legation in Budapest. Hungary. at the request of the American Government. His work was secretly funded by the War Refugee Board. He was responsible for saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews between July 1944 and January 1945. On January 17. 1945. he was arrested by Soviet authorities and imprisoned.
