Shcharansky is no more guilty than the rest of the citizens of the world who speak out against prejudice. aggression. and injustice. Mr. Shcharanskys real crime appeared to be an expression of freedom of speech. the desire to emigrate to Israel. and a history of helping other Soviet Jews who have been victims of Soviet aggression. Yet he remains a prisoner. unable to receive the many letters sent by his family. Moreover. he may now only write one letter every 2 months and may only direct that letter to one person. eliminating any possibility of including messages to family and friends.
