Fidel Castro. who decided that he would send to our shoreswithout any prescreen.ng on our part whether some of those people should not be includeda large number of Cubans. totaling over 125.000. And we. the taxpayers of the United States. have had to pay the bill. The Congress of the United States had no choice. They were here. The communities to which they came could not and should not be expected to bear the cost. So we appropriated. after the fact. $734.4 million. which takes us only up to September 30 of this year. And that is just the tip of the iceberg as to the total cost as far as the American people are concerned. There are several things about that influx of immigrants. Mr. President. that are quite interesting.
