These are the families of our missing in action and known prisoners of war who never returned from Southeast Asia. At this time. there is substantial evidence that the Governments of Vietnam and Laos have not provided us with all the information with respect to our MIAs and POWs in their respective countries. While those Governments have repeatedly stated that they are holding no Americans. reports coming from many knowledgeable and reliable Southeast Asian refugees have flatly contradicted this. I find it a cruel and odious act to continue to deliberately withhold information regarding American MIAs and POWs. I join with the rest of my colleagues to implore the Governments of Vietnam and Laos to free any of our citizens they now hold because of the Indochina conflict and to provide any information regarding the whereabouts of those still missing.
