I do intend to move to table the amendment by the distinguished Senator from New Jersey . First I want to make a couple of comments. One. we are looking forward to the Commissions report on illegal aliens. I agree with the distinguished Senator from Kentucky that we have to do something about this serious problem. I agree with what he said. that where people knowingly employ illegal aliens. there must be sanctions against them. I think there will have to be legislation. there is going to have to be a package of legislation dealing with that. Right now though. we are not finding any such cases arising. Certainly not under this act. The reason is there is no way of docuI menting or determining whether they e are illegal aliens or not. Neither the s courts nor we want to impose penalties on a farmer or any other employer who has no way of knowing whether he is hiring an illegal alien. So far as saying there is any strength in that particular standard. we know there is not. We know there has to be legislation on that.
