Douglas Clyde Macintosh. a Canadian theologian who distinguished himself for over 40 years on the faculty of Yale University. Professor Macintosh was a deeplyrespected teacher at The Divinity School at Yale University and his work continues to be respected as one of the outstanding modes of theological reflection upon religion which liberal Protestantism produced. He desired to become a naturalized citizen of the United States but had to fight a protracted battle through the American courts for the opportunity because his religious scruples permitted him to perform military service only as a noncombatant.
