Mr. Chairman. I rise in strong support of the gentlemans amendment. The Border Patrol at the present time just cannot come close to controlling the situation on the border. I know that there are some stations that they maintainone in particular near San Clementewhere thousands and thousands of people have been apprehended. But they cannot keep open on a fulltime basis. In fact. they are open verv little at the present time. I know that in Tijuana alone they cannot check the cars that are coming through the regular stations empty because there are just too many for them to possibly handle.
