Over the years. the United States has been generous to those in need. providing a beacon of hope to homeless peoples around the globe. Through the many disasters. both natural and manmade. which have plagued our small world in the past. the American people have shown their compassion and concern for their fellow men and women. I have no doubt that the American people will respond to the plight of the Afghan refugees with the same concern they have shown in the past. I hope that "Afghan Relief Week" will call to our attention the refugees. struggle for survival and urge my countrymen to join with the Afghanistan Relief Committee in providing assistance to the refugees. In the great game now being played in central Asia. let us not forget that the players are human.e
