And in Turkey. they are discriminated against to the extent that they are not able to build new churches or schools or even renovate dilapidated structures. This forced assimilation is a form of silent genocide. I am happy to say that in this country and in others. Armenians have prospered. In my district alone. Armenians are prominent business and civic leaders who are grateful to this country for allowing them to immigrate here and to carry on their heritage without oppression. To say "what is done is done" and that the past must be forgotten is wrong. For the Armenians this vivid. painful. and unforgettable memory still lives.
