According to many reliable reports. more than 100.000 people have died since Indonesia invaded that Portuguese territory in 1975. There is a serious need for expanded international relief programs in East Timor. particularly in the area of medical care. There have been many disturbing reports about human rights violations in the territory. including many summary executions carried out by the Indonesian military.
