In the 1980s. it is all the more important that we continue to speak out on the plight of Soviet Jews. It is all the more imperative that we work to end the unjust treatment of people like imprisoned human rights activist Anatoly Shcharansky and Justexiled physicist Andrei Sakharov and. of course. Ida Nudel. It is all the more necessary that we bring to world attention the harassment of countless other Soviet Jews. denied the right to emigrate from the U.S.S.R. as guaranteed by the Helsinki accords. To be sure. the next few months will not be easy ones. There will be setbacks.
