Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960185753

Members of this Congress have been unstinting in their support for the rights of Soviet Jewry. By exerting steady pressure on the Soviet Government. by a continuing series of bills. resolutions. and public statements. there has been some success in securing the release of a number of Soviet dissidents. Religious freedom. the right to emigrate. free speech and other human rights have been the focal point of congressional actions. But we are not alone in our concern. There are. of course. many groups throughout the world who join with us in exerting this kind or public pressure on the Soviet Government.
