Session #96 · 1979–81

Speech #960178506

Speaker. the United Nations General Assembly has already voted for a similar approach to this problem. I do not believe we can do less than to press to convene a meeting as proposed by this resolution. There is one observation I should make in closing. Just as the refugee problem was viewed at Geneva as an international responsibility. so too the accommodations and support necessary for the establishment of peace in Cambodia must be borne by many nations. Whatever international effort is required to create a peaceful. stable. neutral. and viable Cambodian state. the United States should carry only its share. and no more. Mr.
