The children attend language school 5 days a week and regular Sunday school programs. The native tongue of their parents and grandparents is not lost to the changing times. The church is associated with the American Hellenic Educational and Progressive Association. an organization dedicated to maintaining the Greek traditions. This kind of dedication has been a part of the Greek citizenry since the first wave of Greek immigrants settled in Florida in 1767. It is at this time that I ask my fellow colleagues to join me in a heartfelt message of congratulations to the Reverend Kanavos and the membership of the St. George Hellenic Orthodox Church on their 50th anniversary.
