Session #94 · 1975–77

Speech #940045424

I think the gentleman from California and former Lieutenant Governor agrees certainly that this must be faced. I apologize for taking the time and I apologize to the chairman of the International Affairs Committee. for whom I have the greatest respect and who has shown remarkable patience all day long. The reports allegedly received in Los Angeles County by one of our supervisors indicates that he has been asked to prepare for up to 1 million refugees. I think that figure is highly exaggerated. but it really does not make any difference whether it is 1 million refugees or 10.000. The point is that the amendment of the gentleman from California is not dilatory. It does not have anything to do with whether or not the evacuees can come.
