Mr. Speaker. Vladimir Slepak. a Soviet Jew who has been trying to leave Russia for 5 years. began a hunger strike on April 13 in an effort to win his freedom. Last May. a number of south Florida dentists and their wives met with Vladimir Slepak. learned of his ceaseless struggle to emigrate. and vowed to do everything possible to support his fight for freedom. Today. I have learned that friends of Vladimir Slepak in Miami have joined in his hunger strike. They include Dr. Michael Krop. Dr. Robert Blank. Dr. Clifford Marks. and Dr. Lawrence and Shirley Brant. My thoughts and prayers are with Vladimir Slepak and his steadfast friends in Miami.
