Even when the malnutrition reflects primarily deprivation of certain specific nutrients. rather than overall lack of food. the logs of productivity can be drastic. Thus. we have. Mr. President. the seeds of next years hunger and starvation. And the vicious cycle continues. unless something is. done soon to help. I commend to the attention of all Senators the testimony of Dr. Scrimshaw. along with other experts. contained in part II of the continuing series of hearings on world hunger. health and refugee problems. conducted jointly by the Subcommittee on Refugees and Subcommittee on Health.
