Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930299967

Mr. Speaker. a Soviet Jew is on trial in the Baumansky district of Moscow for allegedly running down the daughter of a Soviet official. The facts of this specific case are insignificant when we realize that this is just another act of constant harassment and persecution instituted by Soviet authorities upon Russian Jews and other "political dissidents." Such show trials demonstrate intensification of the persecution of Soviet Jews desiring to emigrate. The aim of these trials is to frighten and intimidate those persons applying or wishing to apply for emigration. And this they have done successfully. Through calculated efforts by the Soviet government.
