Mr. Speaker. in June of 7J43 the Russians overran Lithuania. Latvia. and Estonia. and cond.:cted a mass deportation to Siberia which caused the death of thousands of innocent people. All over the world on June 15 the peoples of the Baltic States will be commemorating the 34th anniversary of this tragic event. The unfortunate plight of the Baltic States Republic has long been a matter of profound concern to me. It was for this reason that I introduced House Concurrent Resolution 431 on February 14. 1974. urging the U.S. delegation to the European Security Conference not to recognize the forcible conquest of these nations by the Soviet Union.
