Psychological Reactions to Herbicides (Section VII B2) The study of psychological reactions among South Vietnamese consisted of two types of investigations: (1) measurement of emotional strain and (2) assessment of attitudes about herbicides. Refugees from a rural community which had been heavily sprayed showed a higher level of emotional strain than any other group to which they could be compared. Among them. those who had experienced the larger number of hard knocks of war had more evidence of emotional symptoms than those who were less severely hit.
