Speech #930128017

Mr. Speaker. it is a pleasure to join my distinguished colleague from Illinois in commemorating the 365th anniversary of the arrival of the first Polish immigrants in the New World. As an American of Polish ancestry. I am particularly proud of the Polish contributions to our society. On Sunday in Buffalo I had the privilege of participating in observances of the 194th anniversary of the battle death of Gen. Casimir Pulaski. who had so stoutly defended the causes of the American Revolution. Nations around the world are noting the quinquecentennial of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus. without whose findings. the astronaut who rode in our Pulaski Day Parade might never have traversed space.
