For many years. it has been the practice of many Members of Congress to sponsor bills and resolutions which deal with internal affairs of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. These resolutions have condemned denial of human rights. oppression of different religions. discrimination against particular groups. and so on. In this Congress. many Members have introduced legislation condemning persecution of Soviet Jews. Also. some 285 Congressmen have cosponsored bills which would deny the Soviet Union "mostfavored ntaion treatment" if internal emigration policy discriminates against a particular group of Soviet citizens.
