Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930125049

They say "took action condemning the Austrian Government." and I think to do this without taking committee action and without the Secretary of State is not the wisest course. When these matters are submitted to the committee we always ask the opinion of the executive branch and the Secretary of State. and it is reported to the Senate. In addition. it is clearly not germane to the bill. There is nothing in the bill that has to do with refugees or Austria. Austria is one of the few countries no longer on our handout list. So it has nothing to do with the main subject of the bill.
