Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930101614

I was early impressed by Nicks sincerity. his alertness and awareness of what ought to be doneand by his dedication. determination and sense of dutyand his incredible energy. Nick Begich and I were a generation apart in time. but we were friends from the first day we met. and our lives ran a strangely parallel course but about 20some years apart. We were both sons of immigrant parents. our fathers worked in the iron ore mines of the Mesabi Range. Nick and I both worked our way through Minnesota State Teachers CollegeI at Winona State and he at St. Cloud State.
