Session #93 · 1973–75

Speech #930089085

The plight of Jews in Syria is also a cause for alarm. Leaders of the Jewish community there have been imprisoned. and Jews are forbidden to travel more than four miles from their homes. I strongly hope that our government will find the means to speak out against this repression and deprivation of rights. I believe that our government could ask those nations friendly to our country which maintain diplomatic relations with Iraq and Syria to use their good offices to persuade these governments to end their persecution of Jewish citizens and to allow those who wish to leave to emigrate. I look forward to hearing from you on this issue.
