I strongly object to the publication of these emergency regulations and I have voiced my objections in a letter to Mr. John H. Stender. Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health. which I am inserting in the Rzcoan. These regulations are believed by many to be the result of a sellout by the Department of Labor to the pressure and intimidation brought to bear by Caesar Chavez and the OEOfunded migrant legal action program. I have to date seen no evidence justifying these "emergency" regulations. The regulations which have been proposed stipulated periods of from 2 to 7 days during which farmworkers cannot reenter fields which have been sprayed with the various pesticides covered in the regulations.
