I say. is discriminationand discrimination violates the great traditions of our Nation. This bill would write selfishness into lawand I say that must not be done. I want to explain my two basic objections. First. the bill would require every employerfarmer. storekeeper. rancher. or housewifeto be satisfied with the legal status of not only every job applicant but of every employee. The bill would invoke penalties for "knowingly" hiring illegal aliens. It is easy for some to say that these people should not be hired. It is easy. too. to say that no one should drive on our highways without a drivers license.
